SPUR: Detecting a 45-minute conflict.
am 15.10.2007 02:39:49 von Paul Brady
SPUR (Special People United to Ride) is a nation-wide organization
that puts children with disabilities on horseback for 45-minute
sessions. It is heavily into volunteers to guide the children.
I wrote a program in A2K for SPUR/Monmouth County NJ to keep
track of volunteer assignments for time slots, by day of week. For
example, John Smith might volunter every Thursday for the 9:00am and
9:45am slots. The slots are not at the same time for all volunteers;
eg, there might be a 9:15am slot on Thursdays for a different
volunteer.
It took me all of about 5 minutes to write (with the duplicate
wizard) a duplicate analysis query to pick out volunteers that are
scheduled for more than one slot on a given day. So, the query output
looks like:
Marjorie Swan Thur 9:45am
Marjjorie Swan Thur 10:30am (This one's OK)
Nancy Fariello Tues 4:00pm
Nancy Fariello Tues 4:45pm (also OK)
Marta Krueger Sat 1:30pm
Marta Krueger Sar 2:00pm (NOT OK, within 45 minutes)
At present, the volunteer coordinator prints this out and then scans
the list (ordered by volunteer/DayOfWeek/Time) to catch times within
45 minutes of each other. The list could contain around 100 items.
What I'd like to do is have Access spot adjacent time slots for a
volunteer/DayOfWeek that are within 45 minutes of each other. In
other words, spot the Marta Kruegers. Any ideas?
