Cannot access IIS from another computer

I have running on an XP machine (which I believe acts exactly the same
as a windows 2000 server) an IIS and tomcat server. I can access the
server's websites by entering http:///, but even with
automatic windows authentication turned on I still get a dialog. By
entering the correct domain, user name and password it logs me in
fine. If, however, I try to access that same site from another
computer, it cannot access it at all. No dialog...just a cannot
connect error page.
I've allowed the other computer access rights to the wwwroot and
website folders on the server machine.
Any ideas? Please request more information if needed.
Thanks
Ed

You seem to have two problems, which i will list below.
1) You are asked for username and password when using the IP address.
This is expected behavior. Internet Explorer does not automatically log
you on when you use the IP address (by default). This is because the
website is not considered to be in the Local Intranet Zone. Please also see:
"Internet Explorer May Prompt You for a Password"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258063
2) You cannot access the website from another computer.
Do you have the Windows XP firewall (or another firewall) enabled? It
sounds like you cannot establish a connection. Verify that you do not have
a firewall that blocks the request, and that you use the correct IP
address to access the webserver.
Hope this helps.
