Field control in IWP

The field behavior settings "Go to next object using Return Key, Enter
Key" do not translate to IWP.

I'd like to restrict entry of data in IWP fields to a max number of
characters, and also prevent users from entering CR/LF in the fields
when they press enter. The CR/LF problem can be particularly nasty of
the user does this in a one-line text field... it can appear empty
although there is data below the CR/LF.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get better field control in IWP?

I've not used IWP, but the simple way around this would be to have a
Calculation field that removes the return characters, and use this
field for display purposes. Obviously it won't fix the problem during
data entry, but at least browsing records would work properly.
