Timestamp in IIS Logs

Timestamp in IIS Logs

My server time is 12am, but the log time indicates 4am, where is IIS getting
that time from? And can I change it?

TIA

It logs in GMT, as per the W3C specification.

You have several options:

- Change to IIS Log Format instead of W3C.
- Use convlog to convert the time
- Use a log analyzer that can handle this

"Incorrect date and time stamp for IIS log file entries"

Hi Jason,

W3C Extended log always uses GMT time. This is a by design behavior which
follows W3C standard. There are serveral appraches to work around this
issue like change the logging to IIS Log File format or converting the
existing log files by using convlog tool.

Please refer to the following article for the details:

271196 IIS Log File Entries Have the Incorrect Date and Time Stamp
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2711 96

194699 Extended Log File Format Always in GMT
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;1946 99

If you have any further questions or concern on this issue, please don't
hesitate to let me know.

Have a great day.
