Trailing Grand Summary
am 04.11.2007 17:21:08 von camilo
I am creating a report in a databas (FM6) that has three parts: A
leading grand summary (LGS), a subsummary and a trailing grand summary
(TGS). I have contents of other databases imported through
relationships.
All the information in the LGS appear well both in Browse mode and in
Preview mode. However when I look at the information on the TGS it
appears well in Browse Mode but when I enter Preview mode it
disappears (not visible in preview mode) but the rest of the info from
the TGS is visible.
Any ideas on how to solve this?

Check the positioning of your fields. Make sure they are completely
within the layout part they belong in.
If they are even one pixel into the part above, they can get messed up.

You will also need to check that it IS a Trailing GRAND Summary, and
not just a Trailing Sub-summary.
If it's a Trailing Sub-summary and uses Summary fields that require a
particular Sort Order, then you will get strange / blank results if the
records are not sorted correctly.

Thank you for the tips. I looked at the layout and everything looks
normal. That is, all fields are in the appropriate place inside of the
part. Checking to the type of part, it is a Trailing Grand Summary.
The main problem is that the text does not appear in preview mode but
in browse mode it does. That is, I have the field merged into the
Trailing Grand Summary and when I look at it in Browse mode,
everything appears OK. When I go into preview mode, the text from
these fields is gone!!!
Any thoughts are more that welcome.

Look to see if got set not to print. If so, it will not show up in the
browse mode.
In the Layout mode:
Format >> Set Sliding/Printing >> Do not print the selected objects.
If that box is checked, it will not show up in the Preview mode or the
print.

I checked this selection on Sliding/Printing and it was not checked.
So the problem persists :(
Can't really figure it out. Any other ideas are very welcome.
Thanks!!!

Keep in mind that when you are viewing the trailing grand summary in
Preview mode, it is taking the data from that field as it exists in the
last record. To see its equivalent in browse mode, make sure you are in
the last record of the found set. If you don't see anything there, then
there is a problem with the calc or summary field itself. If you see
something there on the last record in browse mode but not in preview
mode, then we'll have to further examine it.

Getting the data in the last record solved the issue. Thank you very
much!!!
