Filling a blank field on multiple records

Filling a blank field on multiple records

I'm working with a large database and I want to select a group of records
(will be hundreds) and then fill one field with the same text on all the
selected records. "Find and replace" doesn't work because I can't make it
"find" the blank field. I've tried using " " in the "find" box.

Is there some way to use "insert" or "find and replace" to accomplish this?

Thanks.

"Find and Replace" is only for replacing text in a field, so the text
to find has to exist first.

What you want is the "Replace" function found in the Records menu ...
BUT be very careful since it is a powerful function that can NOT be
undone.

- Close the database and make a backup in case you muck it up.

- Re-open the database and Find the appropriate records in
the normal way.

- Click in the field and type in the new text - do NOT exit
the field.

- Choose "Replace" from the Records menu and make 150% sure
that the window that appears says you are replacing the
contents of the CORRECT FIELD with the CORRECT DATA, and
THEN click the Replace button.

This command can also replace a found set's field data with a
incrementing serial number or the result of a Calculation.
