Groupped Report problem

Groupped Report problem

am 04.11.2007 22:43:18 von anna.antonioli

Hello,
I have a problem with an invoice report.
The invoice is grouped into different parts.
For each part, at the beginning (sub-summary leading) I put same
labels (Quantity, Price, Totale, etc...)
If a part goes on many pages I want repeat on each page the labels.
I can't resolve this problem. Can you help me?
Thanks
Anna

It really depends on how you've set-up the Layout and what you're
trying to get the report to look like.

You can keep the labels in the Sub-summary Leading Part, but also add
them to the Header Part. Since they're in the Header they will appear
on the top of every page. To stop them appearing at the top of the very
first page of the report, add a Title Header Part to the top of the
Layout - this can be left blank or used to contain your company's logo
and contact details.

There is a hiccup here in that you might get a double-up of the labels
if a Sub-summary happens to coincide with the top of a page. To get
around this you could move the labels from the Sub-summary Leading Part
to a Leading Grand Summary Part instead.

The only real problem is that this means you cannot have a report that
looks like:

BOLTS Quantity Price Total
Bolts 1" 5 0.05 0.25
Bolts 0.5" 3 0.03 0.09
Total Bolts 0.34

NUTS Quantity Price Total
Nuts 1" 5 0.03 0.15
Nuts 0.5" 3 0.02 0.06
Total Nuts 0.21

and instead will have to have one that looks like:

Quantity Price Total
BOLTS
Bolts 1" 5 0.05 0.25
Bolts 0.5" 3 0.03 0.09
Total Bolts 0.34

NUTS
Nuts 1" 5 0.03 0.15
Nuts 0.5" 3 0.02 0.06
Total Nuts 0.21

where sub-sections don't have their own labels.

BUT,
unfortunately there is no way you can control where on the page data is
printed. There's no way to know whether or not a sub-section is at the
top of a page (unless you force every sub-section to start on a new
page) or where page breaks will occur, so some Invoices may end up
looking a little strange. For example, the "Total Bolts" Sub-summary
might appear at the top of the next page, giving a report that looks
like:

Quantity Price Total
BOLTS
Bolts 1" 5 0.05 0.25
Bolts 0.5" 3 0.03 0.09

----------------PAGEBREAK----------------

Quantity Price Total
Total Bolts 0.34

NUTS
Nuts 1" 5 0.03 0.15
Nuts 0.5" 3 0.02 0.06
Total Nuts 0.21

Really, the only way to have FULL control over the design of a report
is to export the data and use a word processor or a page layout
application and create the report there.

Many thanks,
I Think that I'll export data...
