SQL 2005 32bit upgrade to 64bit possible?
am 07.11.2007 22:33:12 von Jeremy Pavleck
Just curious if it's possible, and supported, to upgrade SQL 2005 from
32bit to 64bit. This is on top of Windows 2003 64bit. Trying to get
the proper supported config for OM2k7 without blowing everything away.
Thanks,
JDP

This should have been detailed on
ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v9/MS.SQLSVR.v9.en/instsql9/html/702359c4 -6ca9-42a8-860c-a95a802898a1.htm
in Books Online. However, I can't find a final word on this. It says that
you cannot upgrade from SQL 2000 32-bit to SQL 2000 x64.
But in lieu of the affirmative, my answer has to be no.
However, you can always move databases with backup/restore or detach/attach
from x86 to x64.
