IIS Service Unavailable
am 13.11.2007 17:36:00 von bill
Hello all. IIS is on a domain / exchange 2003 box and all has been well until
yesterday. Web and pop3 stopped working well got the pop3 backup and working
and the apps work but if you browse a web you recieve an service unavailable.
Have been searching for hours found great tools to trouble shoot iis but no
luck. I check security and that seems to be fine. Here is an event error
Source W3SVC
Event ID 1039
A process serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool' reported a failure. The
process id was '21456'. The data field contains the error number.
AND EVENT 1002
Application pool 'DefaultAppPool' is being automatically disabled due to a
series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool
OWA works and smtp seems to be fine so any help would be greatly a appreciated

In the event log. You posted:
Source W3SVC
Event ID 1039
A process serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool' reported a failure. The
process id was '21456'. The data field contains the error number.
The event should contain an error number in the data field (bottom of the
event entry). Click the copy button and paste everything here, and we will
get it.

Hi,
This is an access denied error (0x80070005). I have reports that any (or
both) of the following will cause this to happen:
- The worker process is configured to use an identity different from Local
System
- The Everyone group and the User group do not have the Bypass Traverse
Checking user right. By default, they have this user right.
Please make sure that the above is not true for you. There should be a KB
Article about how to check this, and i will see if i can find it.

Is there a utility that we could download to find out what user we are missing?

Failure to load ISAPI Filter will cause the Application Pool to fail
to start up and result in 503 Service Unavailable.
I would remove that ISAPI Filter DLL (IISCHAgent.dll) and restart IIS,
and see how things go. It looks like you installed an older version of
IIS Crash Hang Agent and uninstalled it without removing completely
from IIs, thus leading to this situation.
