BSI have finally published the second and final part of their business
continuity management standard, BS25999, almost exactly a year after
the first part appeared (http://www.25999.info).

BS25999 is the first serious international standard for BCM, and is
closely related to the information security standard ISO 27002
(chapter 14).

Part 1 was the code of practice, which provides a series of
recommendation for business continuity. The second part, Part 2,
though is the specification, which outlines the requirements for a
business continuity management system (a BCMS). It is this latter
part against which third party certification schemes will be
launched.

This is a significant development, as the specification provides the
launchpad for benchmarking, as well as market leverage for those
organizations which can demonstrate compliance through their
certificate.

Both parts of the standards can now be obtained from either BSI's
online distributor StandardsDirect (http://pas56.standardsdirect.org)
or with the BS 25999 Toolkit (http://www.25999continuity.com).
