intermittent locking of sub-form
am 21.11.2007 00:38:03 von glscarlettI distribute an application to about 10 clients. It is written in
Access 2003. I use Win XP but the clients use Vista and in some, but
not all cases, also have Access 2007 on their PCs. They are all using
Access 2003 to open the app. Recently the main form has starting
playing up intermittently. They select a case either by finding it by
number, or finding it by client, and the details come up. On separate
tabs of a tab control are sub-forms to show the clients for that case,
and the sessions for that case.
When they click the session tab for the first time for each case, they
have to click a Show Existing Sessions button to make the detail
section visible. There is also a New Session button that will create a
new session (via DAO code), show the detail section and move to the
new session so that the remaining details can be completed.
This code never fails on my PC, but on the clients' PCs it often works
for the first client or 2 they select from the list, but then
apparently locks up. ie. the Show Existing Sessions, Previous, Next
and New Session buttons do nothing when clicked. Picking another
client/case does not fix this; they have to close the whole case form
down and re-open it by selecting it from the main menu screen. Some
sites claim it is happening every second time; however when I connect
I can't fault it!! This is very frustrating for the clients (and me)
Could it be related to Vista? jet versions?
Would it help if I distributed an Access runtime version using
Sagekey scripts to ensure no interference with other versions of
Access on their PC?
