Where have FP extensions gone?
Where have FP extensions gone?
am 23.11.2007 15:07:29 von Rob Nicholson
New build of Windows 2003 standard server R2 in pilot environment. FrontPage
extensions are not listed on the all tasks menu and there are not
installable as an option in Windows components.
Where have they gone? Have they been deemed too naughty security wise for
the new locked down Windows 2003 R2 model?
Thanks, Rob.

Rob,
If you open Add/Remove Windows Components, FrontPage Server Extentions is a
component under Application Server->Internet Information Services.
Do you mean that you cannot find it under Windows 2003 R2 standard?
Have a nice week.

That's where I thought they were but they aren't there... I've got:
o BITS
o Common files
o FTP
o IIS manager
o Internet printing
o NNTP printing
o SMTP printing
o WWW service
But FrontPage extensions is conspicuous by it's absence...
Cheers, Rob.

PS. This is 64 bit flavour if that makes a difference?
Rob.

Hi Rob,
If this is a 64-bit server, please refer to the KB link provided by Tom to
download the x64 version FrontPage Server Extensions. Also please note this
version only supports to work when IIS 6.0 is configured to run in 32-bit
compatible mode.
Description of the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for Windows x64
editions update: January 31, 2005

Please update here if there is any further question.
Have a nice day.

Bit trickier that it first looks this 64 bit stuff eh?
Cheers, Rob.

Rob,
As I know, actually there isn't a *real* 64-bit version of FrontPage Server
Extension. We have to configure IIS to run in 32-bit mode to use it. Since
Enable32bitAppOnWin64 is a global level setting, this means the whole web
server need to be in 32-bit emulation mode if FPSE is required.
If you have any further concern on this, please don't hesitate to let me
know.
Have a great day.
Sincerely,
WenJun Zhang
