Send mail

Hi
I'm trying to send a PDF file via e-mail
I'm using FM9 and Outlook Express.
I can see that only MS Outlook accepts the command
Is there a way I can use other e-mail programms.
I was thinking something at FM preferences
asking you a default e-mail programm.
Thanks

FileMaker uses the computer's default email application ... BUT
different email applications react differently to FileMaker's Send
Email command. Some applications create a new message in the Outbox or
Drafts, but don't actually send anything. Some applications create a
new message, but leave the window open for users to add more or send it
themselves. Other applications actually create and send the email
themselves with no user interaction. (No doubt some more obscure email
applications don't work at all.)
If you want true / easy email abilities, then you unfortunately have to
ignore the Send Email command and use an expensive plug-in.

I don't believe that setting is a FM setting. I believe FM just uses
whatever your system default email client is set to. So if you install
a new email program, when you first run it, it normally will say
something about not being your default client would you like to make it
so, you would answer yes. Then FM when pumping out emails should send
them to that client.

It works very well using Apple OS X Mail. I also have clients sing it on
Windows XP using Outlook, which seems to work well. On both, it shows
the message composition window with whatever addresses, subject line and
body FM has calculated, and allows the user to add/modify then send.
This is with FM 7, 8 and 9.

But no longer works with Apple Mail in OS X Leopard. It seems still to
work with Entourage though I only tried once.
BTW FileMaker does not use the default email application in OS X unless
that is either Apple Mail or Entourage. True of FMP 7 and 8.5.
