TableNames Function

TableNames Function

Hi Group,

TableNames returns a list of all table occurrences for the fileName in
the parameter, so it's really TableOccurencesNames, not TableNames.

Any way to get only the table names, or does it mean that I should
either store the list somewhere (simple enough, granted) or name the TO
so consistently that I could parse The TableNames result (just kidding).

Thanks in advance

Why kidding? That sounds like a reasonable way of doing it, if that's
the result you need.

The only occurrence you would have to be really specific with is the
first one...

Thanks, Matt. You're right of course, but just manually entering the
list somewhere also seems reasonnable. I'll have to update it when I add
and/or rename tables, but that's not much work. I like the Anchor-Buoy
method for organizing TOs, but I'm not very consistent.

I expected TableNames to give me, well, table names, not TOs. There may
be very good reasons why Filemaker chose to return TOs instead of table
names, but to me the function is misnamed in any case. I thought maybe
there was some other function or method to get the table names, but if
not, i'll just store the list somewhere.

What are you trying to accomplish?
