IIS fails to restart

IIS fails to restart

am 05.12.2007 16:06:01 von justSteve

Server 03 R2 - SP2 Standard.
P4/3GHz - 2 gb ram.

Manually re-starting IIS fails to restart FTP, IIS, & STMP. Event viewer
enters a line for each as below. A 2nd kick will restart successfully. At
this point it's acting like a toggle...the first restart will fail; the 2nd
succeeds; 3rd fails; 4th succeeds.

Is there a way to get more information as to where stuff hangs?

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7034
Date: 11/28/2007
Time: 4:48:26 AM
User: N/A
Computer: STARGATE-V4Z6K4
Description:
The World Wide Web Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It
has done this 6 time(s).

Take a look in the following articles:

The Inetinfo.exe process repeatedly crashes and restarts, and "Event ID
7031" and "Event ID 7034" error events are repeatedly logged in the System
log in Windows Server 2003

Thankx but no joy. I downloaded the referenced updater but installation
informed me i'd already installed newer. Also...I'm not experiencing crashes
per say. The only time IIS exhibits this symptom is when I manually restart
IIS. Stuff comes up correctly on reboots as well. But it's consistently
failing as described on manual restarts.

Also...I'm not running Exchange.

The thing that would be most helpful is understanding where addtional IIS
logging/debugging info can be collected besides Event Viewer.
