It is entirely acceptable to use "Date" as a field name if one uses
delimiters when referring to it as [Date]. (Yes, Virginia, I do it all the
time!).

In !!!!!!this way!!!!!! it's not much different from a field name like
"Nonsense posted to CDMA" which often must be pointed to with [Nonsense
posted to CDMA].
