I *may* provide some "sendmail side" hints but do not expect me to
invest more time in attemtps to understand qmail and vpopmail's
"qmail readiness" :-)
It may be interesting to create sendmail "map" (in sendmail sources)
capable to check *via pam* (pluggable authentication module) if user
exists. Mainly because it would be (IMHO) something useful *not only*
for vpopmail integration :-)

It is a much better short/medium perspective solution.
In long perspective (IMHO) you should *slowly* prepare yourself to
migration to another soft.
