ASP.NET 2.0 Web Service Extension is not enabled in IIS in Perf Point install

ASP.NET 2.0 Web Service Extension is not enabled in IIS in Perf Point install

(I'm not sure if this is the right Newsgroup -- please forgive me in advance
and point me to the correct group)

I'm trying to Install Performance point on a new standalone server.
I have Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 SP2 installed and running
I have Sql Server 2005 x64 SP2 installed and running.
I'm trying to install the Performance Point Server and get an error in the
Configuration manager:
ASP.NET 2.0 Web Service Extension is not enabled in IIS. See your IIS
documentation for information on enabling ASP, ASP.NET, CGI, and ISAPI
extensions.

I've checked Internet Information Services Manager/web Service extensions.
ASP.NET v2.0.50727 (32-bit) is Allowed.
I've run aspnet_regiis -i -enable from the
Microsoft.Net\Framework\v2.0.50727 folder

I've restarted the server.

I'm not sure what else I need to do to enable ASP.NET 2.0 Web extensions in
the eyes of the Performance Point Configuration Manager

Any help would be appreciated

You should ask this question to the support personel of "Performance
Point Server". They are the authority on what their software needs to
run on IIS6 -- including whether it is supported on 64bit Windows in
native or WOW64 mode.

My only advice:
Since you are running 64bit Windows, I have to ask you whether you
installed native 64bit ASP.Net 2.0. It seems like you've only
installed 32bit ASP.Net 2.0, and maybe their software is looking for
native 64bit. But you should not guess -- their support personel must
confirm/deny for you.

Because it usually takes more configuration to make ASP.Net 2.0 32bit
run successfully on 64bit Windows and co-exist with others. And
changing IIS6 bitness is a non-trivial task.

My advice is to go native 64bit on 64bit Windows. You avoid a lot of
WOW64 compatibility issues.

Hi Steve,

As David mentioned, this should mainly be a Performance Point Server issue.
If it does require 64bit ASP.net, please make sure the corresponding
framework is correctly installed. To further narrow down the issue, you can
also temporarily allow 'All Unknown ISAPI Extenstions' in Web Service
Extensions folder of IIS mmc to test if the error still persists.

Please update here on how things are going.

Happy new year.

Sincerely,

WenJun Zhang
