Hmm, let's see. What is this NG about? sendmail? (in lowercase, of
course).

I really don't have much to say about sendmail today. But let's talk
about Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the Google kids.

Do they read Google groups?

Hey, Larry and Sergey! Let me just tell you that we, the folks that
drive the Usenet traffic that you cherish so much are getting more
than a little sick and tired of those MI-5 Persecution postings.

Mind you: I am concerned about those poor fellows that have been
(tortured? prosecuted? castrated?) by MI-5. Gosh, for some reason I am
worried about their wifes and kids.

But not for them.

I frankly feel that they should be branded like cattle.

And, Larry & Sergey: you are not too high on my list either.

Let's just hope that 2008 brings better, actual content to Google/and
Usenet Groups, wunderkinds.

So I post ONE POSTING while the MI-5 bastard, sick individual posts
thousands, and you insult me?

As any organism the Usenet has to develop self defense. I am sure you
can understand such basic principle.

Res in his little cubicle: "Hey Res, there is a terrorist in the
building, with a bomb!"

Res: "Unless the bomb is delivered by sendmail I don't care"

I think you don't understand Usenet. That self-defense is already
in place, and has been for a long time. That's why regular (NNTP)
users rarely even see those off-topic MI-5 postings you are
complaining about.

What you did (posting a complaint to the group affected by the
off-topic posting) isn't self-defense because it doesn't actually
defend against those offtopic postings in any meaningful way. In
fact it makes the problem worse.

Wrong analogy. It's rather: "I knew that already, so stop blocking
my phone because I need it right now for talking to the police."

(Putting aside the facts that even a newsgroup completely swamped
with off-topic postings still isn't quite as bad as a terrorist
with a bomb, and that the majority of recent terrorist bombscares
were false alarms or hoaxes.)

But enough already. Follow-up to poster.
