only limited guest access on a file
only limited guest access on a file
am 06.01.2008 21:16:59 von Fabian
hi,
i got a problem: i accidentally activated the option to automatically
open a file
with the guest-account. (my guest account has the default permissions
(only read permission))
now i do not have write permission on that database file, as it's
automatically opened
with guest permission. i do know the admin account for that particular
file, but i don't
find a possibility to identify myself as the admin, as all such
options seem to be
deactivated under guest account.
is there a way to solve that problem?
(i'm using filemaker 9 pro)
thanks a lot for your help!

just found the solution:
--> open the file while pressing "alt"-key gives you the desired
option!

I always thought it was the "shift"-key on windows, not sure of the mac
equivalent.

both correct,
win -> shift
mac -> alt
from the help (http://filemaker.com/help/09-Passwords30.html):
| If an account name and password is entered automatically
| when you open a file but you want to enter different account
| information, hold down the Shift key (Windows) or the Option
| key (Mac OS) when opening the file.

Tut, tut. Naughty FileMaker Inc!
"Alt" on Macs is more properly called "Option". "Alt" is really only
printed on the keys for people using their Macs to run Windows.
On new keyboards I believe it now just has a squiggly symbol printed on
the keys, but it's the middle key in the trio on either side of the
space bar on full size keyboards.
