Hi,

a) It is up to you whether you wish to use "all unassigned" for the first
website or not. Currently "all unassigned" equates to the single, remaining,
IP address. To ensure that a particular website only listens on a particular
address, I would assign it explicitly

b) If this is Windows Server 2003, then you can add FPSE via the Add/Remove
Programs control panel -> Windows Components. Then, in your Administrative
Tools folder there is a Sharepoint Administration shortcut. This will launch
a website that allows you to configure FPSE2002 for your server. The "All
Tasks -> Configure Server Extensions" was usually used with FPSE2000, which
shipped with Windows 2000

Cheers
Ken

Multiple IP and Frontpage Extension Problems

am 13.01.2008 10:55:34 von Peter

We have assigned 2 IP addresses to the same NIC so that we are able to set
up 2 web sites. For instance, the IP addresses are 168.x.x.20 and
168.x.x.21.

We have assigned the IP address 168.x.x.21 to Web Site 2. Should we assign
IP address 168.x.x.20 to Web Site 1 or we can still using "Unassigned" ?

Moreover, though we have installed FP Extension, we are not able to enable
the extensions on both web sites. From MS Support document, we are able to
enable it via "All Tasks" --> "Configure Server Extensions" when right click
the web site node. However, when we do so, the "Configure Server
Extensions" option is not shown. Have we missed anything ?

Thanks

Dear Ken,

Thank you for your advice and I am able to access "Configure Server
Extension" Page now.

On that page, under Virtual Server, it gets
Default Web Site
New Web Site

However, when I click the "New Web Site", I get the following message:
You are not authorized to view this page
You do not have permission to view this page using your current user
account.
Please try the following:
If you have another user account with a higher level of permission, click
your browser's Back button to try again using that account.
If you believe you should be able to view this page, contact the Web site
administrator.

I just wonder whether the site administration is for the Default Web Site
(or for the IIS Server) only OR anything I have missed out ?

Thanks again

Are you trying to configure extensions of that site? or view the website?

What account are you using? Does it have the requisite permissions?

Cheers
Ken

Dear Ken,

When I select both "Integrated Authentication" and "Basic Authentication"
checkbox for that web site, I am able to view the site admin page.

Thanks
