ChessClock does not "see" my .NET?
am 17.01.2008 08:37:08 von Simon
[Hope this is a appropriate group]
I can't seem to install "Chess Clock" from componentXtra.
(http://www.componentxtra.com/html/Downloads.htm):
"This setup requres .NET framework version 1.1.4322. Please install.. etc"
".NET framework exe 'D:\programs\chessclock\dotnetfx.exe' could not be
located. Setup will now exit"
- these are the two error messages I get when running either
ChessClockInstall.msi or Setup.exe
I have .NET 2+3 installed and it should 'work', as far as I can run
Paint.NET.
I have searched my drives and do not find a dotnetfx.exe
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It requires version 1.1 of the .NET framework to be installed. I was under
the impression that if you had a more up to date version of the framework
then it would be backwards compatable (but I might be wrong about that), but
the installer is specifically looking for version 1.1.
You can get version 1.1 from:

Leon, thanks for your reply.
I also wrote componentXtra who replied : "We haven't build Chess Clock
for some time so it requires .NET 1.1 to run."

I would have thought so too but apparently not... My
\Microsoft.NET\Framework contains folders called:
v1.0.3705
v1.1.4322
v2.0.50727
v3.0
- of which only the latter two has any significant content; v1.1.4322
contains only two files, called gacutil.exe.config and regsvcs.exe.config.
Oh well...
