how to put a personal site online

hey guys, i have a personal web page, but i don't know how to connect
the web page to the internet. does anybody know how to put a personal
web page online?

step 1... get all your service packs up to date. turn off any unnecessary
services, development stuff, etc. turn on firewall with only port 80 open.
get rid of anything else you don't absolutely need to be running on that
machine. install anti-virus, anti-adware, anti-hijacking, and whatever
other anti-stuff you can find.
step 2... repeat step 1 just to be sure you got everything updated and
secured.
step 3... make sure your isp lets you do this.
step 4... ask someone at your isp, or that knows your computer/modem/router
setup how to configure that to forward port 80 to your server.

Do you want to host the website yourself or do you want someone else to do
it (a web hosting company)?

For others to access the website, your computer must be turned on, so you
basically need it on 24/7. So the cost of electricity alone usually costs
more than what you pay for web hosting, for a personal website.

I have this article that explains how you put a website on the Internet
using IIS, but i am not sure this is the solution you want.
