Unknown people appear in mailq - Have I been exploited?

am 20.01.2008 02:00:06 von xmontero

Hello all, 1st post here.

When I type mailq I get about 10 to 15 entries with an aspect like
this:

m0ICJEbu013069 2213 Fri Jan 18 13:19 MAILER-DAEMON
(Deferred: Connection timed out with
office2.thesecttret.tv.)

(I have modified the domain name and the username to avoid bots
getting a real address).

I have checked these mail addresses against our mailing list
subscribers and they do NOT appear.

QUESTION:
How do I manage to KNOW WHO has enqueued those messages???

Thanks.
Xavi.

Probably NDRs for received spam mails to nonexisting email addresses.
You could prevent them by configuring some kind of 'valid recipient check'.

Hi Peter, thanks.

a) By NDRs you mean Non Disclesed Recipients?
b) But the domains are not mine. Why should my mailer try to re-parse
destinations not in my domains?
c) Which is the simplest way to chech if I already have some kind of
"valid recipient check" in my sendmail?

Thanks!
Xavi.

Hi Peter. I think your last response was directed to me instead to the
group.

Which is the simplest way to setup "valid recipient check" in
sendmail?
(I use the mc to make the cf).

Thanks!
Xavi.
