I have created various reports for my database. When I open the
report in display mode all of the reports display on half of the
screen without any buttons to close, maximize, print or do anything.
The only way I can get the report to close is to hit the escape key.
What am I doing wrong? This is really affecting the useability of my
database. Thank you in advance. As you can probably tell I am a
struggling newbee.

You have not done anything wrong. You just did not do everything
necessary to do it right.
Access has the option in Startup, to disable default menus and
toolbars, in order tho prevent users from accessing design mode, or
the tables directly. A couple of versions take this too far.
Solution: Create a small custom toolbar with a close button,
probably the zoombox, etc, and assign this toolbar to the report's
toolbar property.
