Downgrading Server Extensions

I performed a side by side install of Sharepoint 3.0 on a Small Business
Server R2 Premium following the Microsoft document "Installing Windows
SharePoint Services 3.0 on a Server Running Windows Small Business Server
2003" I had to install hotfix identified in KB 934790. I now have
SharePoint services 3.0 installed and working correctly. However, in
SharePoint Central Administration, the companyweb website is now displaying
version 12.0.0.6219 and I believe it is supposed to be displaying version
6.0.2.8165. In addition, I get the following error from client PC's pointing
to the companyweb in Internet Explorer 7:
