Virus transfers

Virus transfers

I have a Dell Latitude D800 that over the past month has slowed progessivley
to the point that it takes about 10 minutes to reboot and opening
applications is like working on a 386.

I have opted to replace the computer and have backed up the entire
harddrive. If there are any issues such as spyware, adware, trojans or
viruses that have sliped by Norton or Spyware Doctor can they be transfered
into the new computer. I will be going from WinXPpro to Vista Business.

Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me on this issue.

Try posting your question in a group with "Windows" in the description. This
is a .Net programming newsgroup.

Having said that, yes, if files are infected, then moving them to a new
computer could be a bad idea.

You might buy a hard drive enclosure, put the hard drive from your D800 in
it, connect it to your new computer and run the anti-virus stuff across it.
