Re: Unable to restore metabase.
am 31.03.2008 17:18:02 von GLT101Hi David,
Thanks for the response. The instructions came from the IIS Help:
In IIS Manager: Help>Help Topics
Expand: Internet Information Services>Server Administration Guide>
Backing Up and Restoring the Metabase>
Restoring the Metabase from Backup Files
Under "Backing Up the IIS Metabase" it states:
"Backup files can be restored either to the computer
on which the backup was made or to other installations
of the Windows Server 2003 family."
It doesn't mention "Portable backups", so no. I didn't
make one of those.
I then followed the instructions under
"Restoring an IIS Metabase Backup" and "Machine-Specific
and System-Specific Information" to be able to restore the
metabase to the target machine.
These are all written by Microsoft, so I consider them
correct.
Cheers,
Geoff
