Internet Services Manager console not starting

Hello,

I am running IIS on a W2k server SP4. At one point, our IIS was
working fine and then later it stopped working. In other words, when
I go to http://servername, it cannot find the page. So I went to the
server to open up the internet services manager console and it gives
me this error:

Error connecting to servername
The data is invalid
Do you wish to continue to attempt to connect to it in the future?

I completely uninstalled IIS and then re-installed it, and I still see
the exact same error. I have done some searching online and the only
suggestions I've seen is that the metabase.bin is corrupt and I should
restore an old one. I don't know what metabase.bin is and don't have
any backed up. It's OK with me to wipe it out and start with a new
one.

Do you have any suggestions? I live in Africa where the power goes
out a lot, so it's possible that's the cause of the corruption.

If you are ok with reinstalling clean then you can certainly do that.
Ensure that %windir%\System32\inetsrv directory is completely removed
after uninstallation to ensure clean reinstallation.

Unplanned power outages can cause software data corruption and shorten
the lifespan of hardware.

Thanks, I tried that, and after the reinstall, the error was gone.
