RDP - Dual Screen Application after RDP disconnect

I am trying to set up a machine to drive a video message screen. I am
planning to use Powerpoint and dual monitors with presenter setup. I want to
be able to stop the PPT remotely via RDP, change the content, and restart the
PPT to display on the message screen. My problem is that when RDP is
connected and/or ends the display does not show on the second screen on the
host machine. After content was updated, it would still take manual
intervention on the host machine to get the PPT back displayed on the second
screen. Any help would be appreciated. Currently using Windows XP SP2 on
both client and host. Would consider other OS options for host if needed.
