Saved page reverts back to old copy, published page remains new co

am 04.04.2008 17:03:00 von sunorsnow

For the last two weeks, I save and publish a page and it looks fine on the
website. Every once and a while, when I open the file to make change, it's
an older version of the page and I can't get the new page back, so I have to
make the changes all over again that I did a week ago. It seems to always be
the same page, and I always open it from the same location. I am VERY
frustrated - please help!!

Is this happening with your local copy or the just on the live/remote server?

It's happening with my local copy. But here's the thing....I have my local
website on my home network, so that I can edit it from either my desktop or
laptop. The "old" copy is the one that's opening on the desktop, but the new
copy (that shows as the published one on my live website) opens up fine on my
laptop. This doesn't make sense to me since they should both be opening from
the same location (the shared desktop folder in "My Network Places"). On
both computers, I opened the files from "File -- Open" -- went to the same
location in the home network, and yet each computer opens a different file
for this one particular page. It doesn't seem to be a problem for any other
pages, just one. Is there a way to purge old information that might be
stored on my desktop for Frontpage? This just seems very odd that each
computer opens two different copies of the same file.

Sounds like you're opening separate pages...you should be opening the web
site as a web... File | Open Site...not; File | Open

Thanks; opening the site worked. Why doesn't it work to open the file even
if opening from the same network location?

because opening one lonely file doesn't let the rest of the gang know what's
going on...always open the entire website if you're gonna work on it even if
it's only one page.
