System Partition for IIS Server

System Partition for IIS Server

am 05.04.2008 22:55:22 von Jill Johnson

We are going to install IIS on Windows 2003 Standard Edition, R2 Server. We
plan to install Webtrends on this server. Do you think 20 GB system
partition is enough? We plan to install Webtrends on the other partition.
Does anyone have any experience installing Webtrends? Do I need a bigger
system partition size to setup Webtrends?

Thanks.

Webtrends itself probably doesn't take up that much room.

However, from memory it imports the IIS logfiles into a database, and the
reports are run against that DB. I would put your IIS logfiles on a separate
partition, and the webtrends DB files as well. 20GB is OK for Windows Server
2003 system partition, but not really large enough for storing log files and
databases etc.

Cheers
Ken

It really depends on the app nature and business requirements.
In the past, we have to the content on a mirror set, then log files on the
raid 5 volume with custom security access control. The raid 5 size is 800gb
with bi-weekly archive to another server, daily log size is ~1gb due to
heavy traffic.

Thank you very much for the information. We have 5 (72 GB) drives. So, we
plan to setup RAID 5. Thank you.
