Webhosting companies with high email limits?

Hello! I am the webmaster for Estradasphere.com. They are a band from
Seattle, and via touring, they have accumulated a mailing list of 5500
email addresses. The site is currently on godaddy, which is absolutely
not acceptable for what we need to do. The band needs to be able to
send a newsletter once, sometimes twice per month, to all 5500 email
addresses on the list.
I have done a lot of research on the subject, but the few potential
leads i found were negated by excessively negative reviews of customer
service. The site is not resource heavy, so a VPS or dedicated server
would be total overkill. We just need to be able to send to 5500
people at once (all of these have opted in, via the signup on the
website, or by filling out the mailing list paper at a concert).
If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it! Currently, all
newsletters are being sent in batches of 500 through gmail, which
takes entirely too much time to do.
Thank you!

This is a MIME GnuPG-signed message. If you see this text, it means that
your E-mail or Usenet software does not support MIME signed messages.
The Internet standard for MIME PGP messages, RFC 2015, was published in 1996.
To open this message correctly you will need to install E-mail or Usenet
software that supports modern Internet standards.

Given that you are in Seattle, WA, why don't you order DSL from your
hometown Internet provider, Speakeasy, hook it up to your own server, where
you can mail from, to your heart's content. If the web site is not very
busy, you can run the web site on the same server, and flip Godaddy the
finger. Or, for another $25/m month, Speakeasy offers a webhosting package
with unlimited bandwidth.
A DSL line might turn out to cost in the same neighborhood as a
VPS/dedicated server, but you'll get a lot more bang for the buck, and a
great deal of freedom. Despite being bought by Best Buy, a year ago,
Speakeasy enjoys a fairly good reputation in the tech circles.
Whatever you do, get away from GoDaddy ASAP. They're bad news.

5500 is such a tiny number in computer terms. Get the cheapest computer
you can from Dell, it will be overkill for what you want, mailman
http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/index.html always has good reports,
and Apache to run the webserver. The kids from your nearest school will
set it up and run it all!
