create and publish to subweb

create and publish to subweb

am 08.04.2008 01:10:00 von rick

hi all,

my company has 2 offices, main office in houston and another office in fort
worth. we have an intranet site that was created and is being maintained
using fp2003 in the houston office. i have a new copy of fp2003 loaded on my
pc here in fort worth and i need to begin adding scheduling info to our
intranet site.

i think the correct procedure is for houston to open the site in fp, create
a new folder and then convert the folder to a web. this subweb is where i
would publish my web files too. does that sound right?

the next question is, on my pc, i assume i must create a new web, but i am
not sure what to name it and then i am not sure how/where to publish it.

i just want to make sure that i do not overwrite any of the files already on
the site.

any help or links to help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks a lot!

You can call it anything you want on your PC. You would publish it to
http://www.intranetsite.com/yourschedulinginfosubweb

As long as they create the subweb correctly, it shouldn't be a problem. To
be safe, you could ask them to assign a different username and password to
your subweb - that way, you would only be able to publish to your subweb.
