Unable to extend Front Page for default website Windows 2003 IIS6

I have my company website running on the default website of Windows 2003
IIS6 and want to install Front Page Server Extension...I installed the FPSE
just fine from the
Windows 2003 CD, but I can't seem to extend the default website...When I
right-click on the default website and go to 'All Tasks', I don't get the
option to extend the website per the instructions, just 'Save configuration
to a file'...When I go into the Sharepoint Administrator, it gives me a
message that there is no virtual server to extend even though the default
website is listed...

Do I need to create a virtual website...? I didn't think so since this is
just a single website...
I'm trying to avoid having to create a virtual website if I don't have to
because we have Exchange 2003 running on the same server and Outlook Web
Access is automatically configured on the default website with some virtual
directories...
