Error loading FP2000
am 23.04.2008 05:46:01 von Dannel
I have an issue similiar to others I have seen in other forums, however can't
find the answer! I have recently upgraded my computer and am running Windows
XP Home. When I loaded FP it had an error box saying "Unable to access
configuration for MS Personal Web Server". Now when I click the icon I get
"Cannot load "\fp4Autl.dll". Has anyone ever found a solution to this? I have
downloaded all relevant updates. Uninstalled and reinstalled and uninstalled
both Office and Frontpage and reinstalled putting FP first (I have Office
2003). All to no avail. Any suggestions gratefully received!

The answer is not to install PWS, it's not supported under Windows XP Home.
You can still use FP2000 without it by using disc-based webs instead of the
PWS.
A disc-based web looks like this C:\My Documents\My Webs\mydiscbasedweb
instead of
http://localhost/myweb

When I installed FP I did so excluding all the server extensions, I didn't
get the option to install PWS. I ran FP successfully on my last computer
which was also XP Home.

You may try IIS on Home, but I don't think that's supported either. Try
Google: server "xp home"
XP Pro comes with IIS, but not Home.
