Direcclient denied by server configuration

Hi,

I am running apache 2.2 on windows xp

I have a .htaacess that contains a single directive

DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php index.shtml index.shtm

This results in the following error [error] [client 127.0.0.1] client
denied by server configuration

Am I missing something in my server config ?

dir_module is loaded ..
