Binary log problems

I tried to look at the binary logs by using phpMyAdmin, but got an error:

SQL error:
SHOW BINLOG EVENTS LIMIT 0, 30;

MySQL said:
#1220 - Error when executing command SHOW BINLOG EVENTS: Wrong offset or I/=
O=20
error.

What is causing this? How can I fix this?

I'm using version mySQL 5.1.42.
