stream_socket_client via proxy

Hi all,

I am trying to use http://code.google.com/p/xmpphp/ package. It uses
stream_socket_client to connect to XMPP servers. I am behind a proxy
server so obviously this is not working. Tried proxychains but to no
avail.

Am I missing something obvious?
