Character encoding of SSL environment variables

Character encoding of SSL environment variables

am 02.03.2010 21:37:56 von Eduardo Suarez-Santana

I have set up Apache with client certificates, and it works pretty fine.
I use the SSL environment variables/ /as an authentication method in my
php software.

However, when I connect from different platforms/browsers with the same
client certificate, variables, e.g. /SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_CN, / show encoded
either in UTF-8 or latin1.

Is this wrong behavior? If the variable is read from the certificate,
and the certificate binary is the same, why do I get different
encodings? Is there a way to avoid this?

Thanks a lot,
-Eduardo
