mysql is crashing

am 12.08.2010 23:32:55 von Yectli Huerta

Hello,

I compiled a version of mysql 5.1.49 and it crashed a couple of times already.
I recompiled it with debug enabled and this is the error I got. Do any of
you guys/gals have any suggestions?

thanks,

100812 13:53:59 - mysqld got signal 6 ;
This could be because you hit a bug. It is also possible that this binary
or one of the libraries it was linked against is corrupt, improperly built,
or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware.
We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help diagnose
the problem, but since we have already crashed, something is definitely wrong
and this may fail.

key_buffer_size=5368709120
read_buffer_size=16777216
max_used_connections=8
max_threads=151
threads_connected=3
It is possible that mysqld could use up to
key_buffer_size + (read_buffer_size + sort_buffer_size)*max_threads = 10192416 K
bytes of memory
Hope that's ok; if not, decrease some variables in the equation.

Hi Yectli,

In mysql configuration file (my.cnf) you have given

key_buffer_size = 5G

For 32bit OS it should be less than or equal to 4GB and for 64bit it can be
greater than 4GB.
Reduce the key_buffer_size to 3GB and try.

Hello,

thanks for the tip. It is a 64 bit executable so 5gb should be OK. It is
running on a x86_64 SLES 10.3 server.

Hi Yectli,

I am talking about mysql server. Is it 32bit or 64bit.

Provide some additional information. mysql configuration file, show
variables, Error log file details etc.

Then your mysql server should also be 64 bit. Please Check.

Try using the file command:
# file /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld
/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64,
version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.4.0, dynamically linked (uses shared
libs), for GNU/Linux 2.4.0, not stripped

i provided the tracefile output and error log in the original email.

the problem appears to be with glibc, see below

*** glibc detected *** /opt/mysql/libexec/mysqld: corrupted double-linked list: 0x00002aabf301a720 ***

it is 64bit running on sles 10.3

debug='d:i:o,/project/kumardb/mysqld.trace:t'

key_buffer_size = 5368709120

sort_buffer_size = 16M
read_buffer_size = 16M

read_rnd_buffer_size = 8M
myisam_sort_buffer_size = 128M
thread_cache_size = 8
query_cache_size = 32M
thread_concurrency = 8

the machine has 128 gb of memory and a total of eight cores

it is 64bit. that is how i compiled it

mysqld: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.4, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), not stripped

a coworker mention something about malloc_debug being a problem. my google
searches have not yet proven fruitful
