How to unstall MySQL 5.1 on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

Dear All,

I need to install MySQL 5.1.42 on ubuntu. MySQL site does not have installer packages for ubuntu(.deb).
If I need to use tar.gz is there any document available which will help me do this specific changes.

Any input will be great help. As I need to set it up urgently.
