mysql_init error

Hello,

I am getting the following error while trying to run a perl script to
access some information. DBD::mysql seems to have installed properly.
Cany anyone tell me how to fix this?

/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/i386-linux/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so: undefined
symbol: mysql_init
