libz.so is a gzib library. So try installing gzib library. If it is sun box
get it from www.sunfreeware.com

Thanks for responding. I do not have the libz.so in
usr/lib or anywhere. I am not sure how i am supposed
to get this file. is this part of client and
development files of the mysql server?
