Issues with DBD-mysql-2.9002.tar.gz

Greetings. I am having a problem with the above
mentioned file. When I unzip and try and install, I
get a nasty error, complaining about line 89 in the
Makefile file.
Lines follow:

installhtml3dir=''
installman1
INSTALLSITEBIN = /usr

Line 89 is installman1. Obviously, it should have
something such as installman1=''

There are other lines in this file that throw errors
once I repair that one. Any clues as to why this is
happening and what I can do about it? Please reply to
