Problem with make test in installing DBD::Mysql

Hi,
I am trying to install DBD::MySQL from source on
my RedHat 9 machine. I have earlier installed
MySQl 4 (server, maxserver,client,developer) from
rpms. I set the password using :

shell>mysqladmin -u root password trymysql11

shell>mysqladmin -u root -h localhost.localdomain
password tryme123

After that I installed DBI from source
successfully.

Now when trying to install DBD::MySQL everything
proceeds fine till make . But make test fails

It is not able to connect to the server . I am
using the default test database but I don't know
the username & password. What should I do to
solve this problem
