mail_to_db

Trying to configure a FreeBSD-based email server to commit email messages to
the MySQL database. Here's some quick specs:

FreeBSD 4.10 Release
MySQL 4.0.20

I haven't settled on an MTA or email server program yet - I'm completely
open to your advice. I simply want to configure the MTA to send a copy of
all incoming/outgoing messages to a particular account. Then commit each of
those messages to a MySQL database so they can be archived and retrieved
years later.

I've been searching & reading about ways to do this for a solid week now. I
cam across the mail_to_db.pl script, and it appears to be what I'm looking
for. The problem is, I'm fairly new to Perl, and I really don't know how to
invoke a script like this automatically.

I understand that somewhere in the MTA or perhaps a mail processing utility
like Procmail, one needs to configure it to pipe the mail to the perl
script... but this is all new to me and I'd really appreciate some tips. How
do I set this up?

Thanks much for your advice,

Lonnie
