Why is it that every time I post to the list Daniel Aekyung emails me with
the message below.

Does this happen to anyone else?
Why does this happen?
Does Daniel even know this is happening?
Where is Daniel when this happens?
Who is Daniel Aekyung?
Does anyone have any good pie recipes?

Answers to any one of these questions would be appreciated.

Levon Barker

My personal guess is that it's a Korean vacation message. Chances are that
Daniel is on some exciting holiday is a remote hide-away - ya know, somewhere
like Clackton.

I just did a translation from www.altavista.com

Actually it says:

Subject: su Pool permission limit excess mail

The mail to send the user star su exceeds the daniel which is the maximum
dosage it will be able to store in the pool more it will be able to receive
the over mail

Can we take this email account off the list?

I'm using localtime as part of an email response. However, the format puts HHMMSS before Year.#Inserts the Date and Time; used in EMAIL REPLY
my $datetime = localtime;
Your information was sent: $datetime

What the sender sees:
Your information was sent: Fri May 2 11:00:19 2003 What I WANT the sender to see:Your information was sent: Fri May 2 2003 11:00:19 How can I reverse the Year and HHMMSS? TIA,Gregg O'Donnell

Well Greg, one thing you can do is something to the effect of:

my @datetime = localtime();

Then @datetime arrays elements are as follows:
[0] = seconds
[1] = minutes
[2] = hours (0 - 23)
[3] = day of the month
[4] = month (0 - 11)
[5] = year (add 1900 to get the actual year)
[6] = day of the week (0[sunday] - 6[saturday])
[7] = day of the year (0 - 364)
[8] = daylight savings

With that, you can piece together any kind of date time format you wish.

David

Hi Gregg.

I'd normally recommend a formatting module for something
like this, but since what you want is so close to what
localtime provides anyway you may as well do it like this:

my $datetime = join ' ', (split ' ', localtime)[0,1,2,4,3];
print $datetime, "\n";

>>OUTPUT<<

Fri May 2 2003 17:08:47

HTH,
