That's a little like asking us to teach you C programming and a bit
hard to do through email.
You might want to try searching the web (using google) for something
like "bash shellscript programming" or "unix shell programming".
http://groups.google.com will probably also contain useful things.
The shell you run is called "bash" (it has a very long manpage) which
is largely compatable with the old UNIX Bourne Shell, so if you find
any books on Unix shell programming (or "writing shellscripts in UNIX",
etc) they'll also be relevant.
The other popular shell is the "C shell", but you are most likely
running the bash shell.
